Houston Faith Church Mission to Jamaica - May '07
Joni and I had a great trip to Jamaica last week, where we helped thousands of people understand and respond to the kingdom of God. We preached in a business luncheon, a women's conference, a leadership conference, and in churches. And that was in addition to the nightly crusades where about fifteen hundred people congregated in a cricket stadium to hear the gospel. Evangelist Daniel King was the primary sponsor of the meeting, with Pastor Richard and Joy Keane being the Montego Bay host pastors who really coordinated the participating churches and all the preparation logistics for the crusade. We had a team of 13 students from Oral Roberts University, who did great leg work in passing out flyers, preaching in schools, and ministering to kids. And pastors Billy and Marianne Allen from Christ for the Nations Church in Dallas, along with some of their church members, accompanied us in the ministering. They were all a great blessing.
We worked in the streets, on the beaches, and even had a parade driving an 18-wheeler flatbed truck through the middle of town, creating some excitement for the crusade.
We praise God for the hundreds of salvations and physical healings that He did, and we pray that the Church in Jamaica was edified for a long time to come.
Pastor Chas' trip to Brazil - March '07
Joni and I want to share with you the good news from my trip to Brazil. In March, I traveled with Rev. David Horton to Brazil, South America, to help with a series of evangelistic miracle meetings in the state of Bahia. There is a Church ministry in Brazil, led by Rev. R.R. Soares, that has enveloped their whole country, and we went to preach where he was unable to, as he is only one man. However, his ministry Grace of God Church International consists of over 2000 churches worldwide, with scores of them in every state of Brazil.
The Brazilians are hungry for God! In most places, there is a Grace of God church in every town. And in most of them, church services are held every single day of the week with usually 3 to five services per day.
Our mission was to preach at mini-miracle-crusades that had been set up and advertized in the villages of Bahia. Some of the meetings were held in community centers or town theaters, and some of the meetings were held in churches. Our first meeting usually began at 7:00 am, as we would arrive to a packed house of people who had come expecting a miracle from God. The attendance was usually between 500 and 700 people, with our largest crowd being about 1200. Our part was to preach the simple gospel, lead people in a salvation prayer, and then pray a mass healing prayer for everyone. Then we would take testimonies of those people who were healed. There were so many healing testimonies that we would have to stop them after about thirty minutes, turning the meeting back over to the pastor of that area. And then we were off to the next town and the next meeting, which started at around 9:00 or 10:00 am....then the same at 2:00 and the same at 7:00 pm.
We had the same results everywhere: many people raised their hands saying that they had received Christ for the first time, and hundreds of people testified to the healing power of God. We had stories of numerous tumors disappearing, people healed of back pain, leg pain, shoulder pain, eye trouble, ear trouble, heart trouble, arthritis, foot swelling, knee trouble, open sores, and many of which I didn't know the details because the interpreter was too busy to translate from Portugese back to English for me. Several crippled people were healed and able to walk. One man had been carried into the meeting on a plastic chair took his first steps in years. Another man who came in hobbling on a cane began to walk in the front section, and after 3 or 4 passes, he had let go of his cane and was walking freely. Many of these I recorded on video. I even recorded one demon possessed man who was interrupting the meeting with screams and contortions get totally free as an usher prayed for him and cast the devil out of him. Overall, we preached in about 23 crusades to over 10,000 people, and saw God move mightily. All praise to God and our Lord Jesus Christ.
